10.1 - Squirrel Cage

This is the most commonly used engine in the industry today. It has the advantage of being more economical compared to single-phase motors in both its construction and in its use. Moreover, choosing the ideal method of starting, has a much wider range of applications. So let us examine in detail this engine.

Summary:

Festival "Green Fest "celebrating environmental sustainability and will take place at the Estoril Congress Centre from 4 to 8 December, with the aim of bringing together companies and institutions for a change in attitudes towards sustainable development. The aim of the Festival is stirring the minds, mobilizing populaçãoe generate a large movement around issues on the international agenda on sustainable development. The festival gathers in the same place in different areas of intervention exposure, inviting public participation.

Event Description:

Space Green festival will be divided into several areas, such as Green Trends (fashion trends, decor, technology, mobility); Green Fun (Playground and entertainment); Taste Green (healthy food); Green Lounge (therapies and relaxation area) Green Thinking (conferences, culture, education), Green Business (business area), Green Places (sustainable construction level, local authorities), and Green Music (area for concerts for a cause). The event will feature workshops aimed at professionals and specialized themes such as "Tourism and Sustainable Construction", "Climate Change" "Biodiversity and Natural Resource Management", "Waste Recovery" or "Trademarks and Design and Social Responsibility." Alongside these workshops in the first two days (4 and 5 December), will be held two conferences with national speakers and foreigners. "Green Fest" also promoted two concerts on 5 and 6. Days 6, 7 and 8 are directed to the general public, who can enjoy activities from Yoga, Pilates Chi, Laughter Therapy, conversations on quantum physics, nutrition, psychology, medicine or traditional Chinese aesthetics. Professor Hans Joachim Schellnhuber is one of the largest world authorities on climate change. He heads the Potsdam Institute for Klimafolgenforschung (PIK) since its founding in 1992. He is Vice-President of the German Council for Global Change, Chief Adviser to the German Federal Government on Climate Change, and a member of the Advisory Group on Energy and Climate Change ; policies of the President of the European Commission. She has taught or lectured at the Universities of Regensburg, Oldenburg, California / Santa Barbara, Arizona, East Anglia and Oxford. He was elected President of the Wuppertal Institute in 1999. He directed the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research between 2001 and 2005. It has a vast work, comprising over 200 articles and 40 books, published the best international scientific journals and publishers. He was honored with numerous awards alemãse international, where we highlight the CBE (Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the Bristish Empire "), granted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2004, and the German Prize the Environment (2007).

Bioblitz Portugal 2008

"The BioBlitz, a concept created in the United States America in 1996, consists of an inventory in 24 hours of living organisms in a given area, in order to characterize the existing biodiversity. The visiting scientists establish a base near the study area where, with a team of volunteers, performing the identification of organisms found by the participants. This activity should take place during the whole 24 hours because there are bodies that appear at different times of day.

BioBlitz The concept uses a space urban green to arouse public awareness on biodiversity, ecosystem services conservaçãoe. This real-time interaction between researchers and the community allows people to watch scientists at work, and may participate in the collection of species. Alongside the work of expert groups, there are parallel activities (lectures, exhibitions, experimental), to spread the concept of biodiversity and its importance in the balance ecosystem.

The site selected for the initial Bioblitz in Portugal was the University of Algarve, Campus de Gambelas! This campus is located in a green pre-natural park (Ria Formosa), being attended by a large academic community.

This event will be held on 17 and 18 October. "

"The '1 Congress Environment and Society 'came from a joint initiative of a group of teachers and researchers of the Institute of Educational Sciences. The initial idea of organizing another opportunity for the dissemination of issues related to the environment was rapidly extended to the execution of a scientific debate to and from a broad academic community which, however, we joined.

The 1st edition of the Environment and Society, sponsored by the ISCE and supported by the Municipality of Maynooth, will be held at the Center Conference of Maynooth, on Thursday of Memory, on days 2, 3 and 4 April 2008 and has as its theme Global Climate Change: Science and Solutions. With this theme, we join with the celebration of the United Nations Decade on Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014).
