season decisions ...
Dear friends,
are doing almost two months since my last post! I owe you all to eagerly (or not) waiting for my new lines an apology. In fact, there has been a lack of time or too much work (although the latter seem a lot longer), but ... lack of inspiration and pure laziness to the mix.
As the title of the topic, I'm at a stage decisions. A lot is happening for anxiety and one begins killing me. 30th of this month may well be my last day as a student at the University of Wageningen. I can say it was 2 years (and a few months) very productive and rewarding. I am a little over one month to become officially a Master in Cellular and Molecular Biotechnology. And if the title does not bring me many assurances, I learned during this time is something I will carry throughout my life.
With the end of the course is another course. In reality, the student life is the only I know how it should be and is something I would like to continue doing. Nooo study to study ... but the study to learn! It is perhaps why my first option is to follow the PhD immediately. I find myself waiting for response from the FCT to know if I should get back to Roterdãoe new room / house or if I should go back to Portugal with or without other options for a PhD in mind. Right now I do not think about it .... want to wait and see what happens.
Moreover, in recent times, the desire to become teachers has become almost a goal. Perhaps the strong parental influence, but it's something I did not care to do anything at the university level. Maybe even at the secondary level was still an option since it could ever continue with other studies! The truth is that in recent months have been a kind of assistant professor. I am taking a course that consists of laboratory work and maybe because the person with the most experience of all students, they resort too often to me for extra help in the matter. And being able to satisfy the curiosity which every one loads and at the same time leaving me with an enthusiastic shake of the head so as to fully realize what he said is an incredible feeling that makes you go beyond an explanation ; it! Something to consider ... maybe an education course (something small) is not something that will make the future).
But as I prepared for whatever comes I am going to Portugal from 31 October to 21 November ... or better ... I landed in Porto, spend a few days in Santiago de Compostela, pass through Lisbon and then go to Evora. I want to be with everyone in a more calm this time ... without the stress of finishing the thesis, without the pressure of trying to see as many people as possible and no plans for concerts and festivals ... I ... and I'll do whatever you have on hand to do. There is clear they liked to do things like go to the ISA, the new Empress to visit my ex-ordinator, see my brother play at Boksburg, visiting my grandparents' house (now that the finished works ) ... but all without the pressure of having to do!
------------------------------------------------ -
Turning to the decisions .... These last weeks have been marked by the elections in Portugal. Here in Holland we also ... Wageningen emigrants ... followed two days of intense choices.
is striking to note that whatever the outcome in terms of numbers ... The overall result has been known for a long time ... Win for all parties. The political dicursos preceded the results of polls are always loaded with win accompanied by screams of war at a party for your party leader!
Do not consider myself a partisan person ... I like to give my opinion on them but mostly about the people of the parties. I confess I am a little more to the left with some communist roots but that's not what I will do to support or vote for the PCP or CDU. Rather ... that's what makes me be even more critical to the party. In local elections in Évora winner was Dr. José Ernesto for the 3rd time (if I remember correctly). Alright! I have no complaint in its relationship to him. See Évora improving year to year and I only chin still not having a sports complex that we can be proud. But a city that is considered World Heritage should take other things into consideration as well. The elections were marked by in my opinion a ridiculous situation that happened a few days prior thereto. The candidate of the CDU and respective council members were prevented from entering the city council re-elected president and candidate of the Socialist Party, Jose Ernesto. The situation became public not by a speech by Eduardo Luciano (CDU candidate) but put a video on youtube where the actual shooting their way into City Hall and its negative! In the video to see if the candidate together with the respective council members to read a statement delivered by the security of the building. While the statement is read, the security is somewhat humiliated by the "trap" created while the council proclaimed statements about humuristícas the situation. Clear that the candidate wanted, with this video, creating an uncomfortable situation to re-elect Jose Ernesto while arranging a scandal to get more votes. In my view ... was only make it worse! What is the need to create a scandal? I find perfectly understandable, that in time of elections, candidates can not enter the chamber to advertise their campaigns! To my knowledge, no party has entered the Lisbon City Hall to campaign! It's stupid and unscrupulous ... and I am surprised that Dr. José Ernesto did not gain an advantage with more comfortable!
Continuing with the election ... mha personal opinion on the big loser (who also won note ...) was the PSD. Clearly a failed campaign at various levels. The biggest of them all is to have Manuela Ferreira Leite ahead of the party! Clearly a leader not a leader .. a leader without the ability to lideraçae union. Stubborn and arrogant has made the party had the worst (but note Also, the best) ever result at various levels. The big winner was the PP and the Left Bloc. What it is still worrying the two fringe parties (within the big 5) start to stand out against the other ... and concern itself not understand why certain policies are more wrong than the other (I am not so concerned in this post) but because they begin to build up two thoughts quite far apart. The country currently need unity ... needs people who believe in him ... and we are not seeing the PP ever do anything with the BE except criticize the current government (whatever that is). But in the midst of all this I have to confess admirer of the two party leaders ... demagogues are two excellent although I think the Paulo Portas weigh a person over the head crazy (and the latter took a ball of Socrates that it will take to recover). Jerónimo de Sousa was like the dog abandoned in Through it all ... with the significant increase in PP and BE victory at the polls and PS whining ever PSD (but note with victory), the UDC found itself excluded from the political environment. Despite the uptick in the number of votes in the CDU, this became the 5 th power party showing that communism like the look of the moment ... not revenge!
With all this ... Socrates is again prime minister ... and you know what? Glad ... Why have the Manuela Ferreira Leite would be much worse! Despite knowing that my parents suffer much with the current prime minister due to the bright choice for Minister of Education (error assumed to change ...), I have to assume that all candidates .. was no doubt what would be my choice. And this is why we should not look only at parties ... one must understand who is in the party. And with a PSD party to pieces inside a PP and EB dimensions of party ideas and "extreme" does not speak in favor and say a PC, is very weak and with few people actually responsible. .. PS it seemed a good choice. And even though it was without an absolute majority .. so maybe we can have a policy that differs from the ideas and party politics becomes a more global and comprehensive.
But in reality ... who I really wanted those elections ... were two people who I admire greatly and can have a critical opinion with little connection party (I say little because as usual can not be clear of their parties). Are these people Professor Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa (PSD) and Antonio Vitorino (PS). It is an eye wash to see these two gentlemen to comment elections (whoever they are). I hope one day to see them work together despite differences partisan ...
--------------------------------------
And because the country lived week intense criticism ... seems that the Portuguese people thought it best to start by criticizing the criticism only! One example is an article published in the Sept. 16 Express, written by Clara Ferreira Alves.

I learned through this article a great friend here in Wageningen who commented on his blog that article. I advise you to take a look here: http://olarapio.blog.com/
Mrs. Clara Ferreira Alves thinks is a person with enough knowledge because it is well-traveled urban. Decided therefore critical to our beautiful city of Lisbon by comparing it to other European capitals. A strong criticism and ugly that I think is both concrete and real as the words of the Santana Lopes and the beautiful stories "true" Professor Jose Hermano Saraiva.
until I was ready to make a big speech about the criticism ... I assumed that I as a person who did not like Lisbon and now I am a huge fan of that city. But I lost the desire to comment to see my email this morning and confronted me with a valuable information given by the no less precious johnson.
See yourself here: http://jornal.publico.clix.pt/noticia/20-10-2009/vitoria-ao-cubo-nososcares-do-turismopara-a-cidade-da-luz- 18047859.htm
seems that the city of Lisbon has won three awards for tourism ... who knew? A city so heavily criticized by Clara Ferreira Alves specialist!
Anyway ...

My post is becoming too long and holds the fact of writing a few times. Point out clearly the better! I have some news and updates to make to my list of 101 things to do. List that was not forgotten and still intend to complete! I promise not to write briefly (because I can not fulfill) but I'll try to do it.
Kisses and hugs, John
