1 Environment and Society

"The '1 Congress Environment and Society 'came from a joint initiative of a group of teachers and researchers of the Institute of Educational Sciences. The initial idea of organizing another opportunity for the dissemination of issues related to the environment was rapidly extended to the execution of a scientific debate to and from a broad academic community which, however, we joined.

The 1st edition of the Environment and Society, sponsored by the ISCE and supported by the Municipality of Maynooth, will be held at the Center Conference of Maynooth, on Thursday of Memory, on days 2, 3 and 4 April 2008 and has as its theme Global Climate Change: Science and Solutions. With this theme, we join with the celebration of the United Nations Decade on Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014).

is intended to be a moment for this Congress and a forum for discussion and dissemination of environmental issues that affect more directly the daily life of our society. We present points of discussion in science and environmental technology, in areas related to spatial planning, environmental governance, issues of citizenship and the relationship between society and the environment.

The areas chosen for the various symposia will provide a space for discussion, reflection and articulation of the initiatives presented, and could trigger further actions and projects aimed at achieving a sustainable future and positive societal transformation.
